1972 and New Plated Metal Works by Jess Nelson
Jess Nelson is a remarkable figure in the mid-century modernist movement, leaving an indelible mark on the worlds of design, muralism, and sculpture. Born in a beach city on the West Coast of the U.S.A., Nelson's creative spirit began to blossom at an early age. With an innate curiosity and an insatiable desire for self-expression, he quickly became an unstoppable force in the art world.Nelson's design sensibilities are characterized by constructionist capabilities, fine detail, and a focus on aesthetics. His ability to create beauty, inspired by historical works, is unparalleled, and his unique designs embellish many contemporary living spaces. Drawing inspiration from established living artists and renown masters, Nelson carves his own unique niche in the movement, infusing his creations with his unmistakable artistic voice.
As if dominating the worlds of design and muralism was not enough, Nelson also pushed the boundaries of sculpture. His sculptures are dynamic, thought-provoking, and often humorous, engaging viewers on multiple levels. He masters a variety of materials, from bronze, precious metal, glass and resins to wood and clay, crafting intricate detailed natural and imaginary forms that seem to come alive. Each piece is an invitation to explore new possibilities, encouraging viewers to reinterpret their environmental and conventional notions.
